Our Saunas

The sauna is an iconic and integral part of Finnish culture. It is listed by Unesco as an Intangible Cultural Heratige of Humanity. Traditionally, the sauna is considered a mystical, sacred place where people can cleanse their bodies and minds and embrace a sense of inner peace. It is the ultimate well-being experience and a perfect way to finish off your day!

Our lakeside saunas are available in the evening from 16:00 onwards and bookings can be made online. We have two different saunas: a wood-fired floating sauna, "Mustikka", and our older sauna, "Puolukka". The sauna complex includes winter swimming areas, changing rooms, washrooms with wcs and showers, as well as the actual sauna hot rooms. In addition, when you have finished with the sauna bathing, there's a lounge to relax in, which has a large natural stone fireplace, sofa, kitchenette and table.

Do you dare to take the plunge and try out winter swimming?! Going for a quick dip is a great way to cool off while having your sauna - it's quite an adrenalin rush so it gives you a natural high! The Mustikka sauna has steps down into a deep, black swimming area while the Puolukka sauna has a path to the lakeside where there's a bench and a shallow swimming area by the sandy shore.

How to use the sauna

Please arrive at our reception 15 minutes before the start of the sauna. Here you will be given instructions and advice on how to make the most of your sauna experience. Then proceed along the path on the left-hand side of the lake to the saunas and make your way up to the red sauna building to entrance #2, where you'll find a changing room, so you can change out of your clothes and your swimsuit.

If you have booked the Mustikka Sauna, wrap a towel around you and keep your socks on, (or your bathrobe and slippers), then make your way back down to the footbridge over to the black sauna building on the lake shore, where you'll find a second smaller changing room and the hot sauna room.

If you have booked the Puolukka Sauna, go from the changing room into the wash room, where you should take a shower before using the sauna hot room, to wash off any make-up or lotions.

Once you're in the hot rooms of either sauna, spead out the thin white towel on the top bench and sit there for a few minutes, relax and let the heat penetrate through your body. "Löyly" is at the heart of the experience - it is the "spirit" - the steam that is released by throwing small amounts of water every few minutes onto the stack of heated stones on top of the stove. When you feel the need to cool off, step outside, and if you feel brave enough, take a refreshing dip in the lake. Return to the hot room and again, let the heat work its wonders. Then step outside again and take another dip in the lake. The change of temperature gives you a natural high, and you'll experience a feeling of gentle euphoria. Continue in the same way, back and forth, a few times.

If you are in the Puolukka sauna, you can simply take a shower, gradually turning the water cooler and cooler, if you don't fancy going out for a swim. â€‹When you're done, have a final shower, dry off, dress and exit via the changing room door or the door in the lounge. Remember to hydrate yourselves with a drink of fresh spring water from the tap in the lounge or some pre-prepared berry juice that we have left for you on the kitchen worktop.

Now you should feel truely rejuvenated!

For those in the Mustikka sauna, please add a couple of logs to the stove in the hot room now and then, to keep a small fire going. When you're done with the hot room, please make your way back up to the changing room again via entrance #2 for your shower.
